BetaMatter Lab AR Site _ Offline n' Chill

If no one is on a website, what does it do? What happens in this space?
The BetaMatter Lab AR experience is a prototype that tries to understand the fantastical side of this question, placing the user in the site, removed from the traditional entry point using the web on a 2D plane. By using a world tracking system, the site enables the user to navigate and explore a real scale. Users enter the site through a QR touchpoint that opens a kiosk portal. Integrating hints of ideas to come, the experience allows 3D models of photogrammetry scans to be manipulated in the AR experience, adding a sense of discovery for those that enter the lab. The walls are customizable and can be changed using a toggle button on a computer. The idea for this is to use sampled Substance materials and eventually allow in-experience materials to be seen and sampled on objects. The “off-line” site is as much like a working lab as it is a website, with architecture being strongly rooted in spatial practice, the move to a site like this more closely aligns with the playfulness of the whimsical experiments testing out the frontier of XR capabilities.
